Jessica's Christmas Caramels

My first grandchild Jessica makes these fabulous caramels for Christmas. This year she made a jar called Grandma's Secret Stash  for me to have. She is the most thoughtful young lady I know. I love her dearly (not jut because of the caramels) but for her every day kindness. She is beauiful inside and outside and her mother did a wonderful job raising her. I am honored to say she was given my name as her middle name.

 I love you Jessica and am honored to be your grandma.

P.S. Each caramel is wrapped and tied with beautiful red and green bakers twine. Needless to say these twines indicate the jar is empty. Oh the calories but they are calories of pure love.
Also the recipe comes from her other Grandma who she lost this summer.

Chimes Are Chimming!!

So we called the Grandfather Clock Doctor and he made a house call. This was going to be our Christmas present to one another. Fix the clock if price was within reason.

He came, he worked , he took parts back to shop and worked on some more. Must be like Santas workshop. He returned the next morning put it back together and made it chime!

He charged $125.00 and it was worth every penny! A true craftsman and probably not a lot of those left these days.

At eleven last night as I lay in my bed listening....11 chimes......midnight...12 chimes! Yes!!! All is well at night now.

In my 10/27 post I was praying for chimes and I got them! Merry Christmas!

I FOUND A HANDMADE SOCK MONKEY AT A GARAGE SALE THAT WAS MADE BY A GRAMDMA WHOSE GRANDSON SAID HE HAD OUTGROWN IT! I GAVE HIM A HOME. HIS NAME IS LUCKY.

HE HAS BEEN WITH ME EVER SINCE IN MY DEN.

SEEING THIS TREE IN A CHRISTMAS TREE SHOP WARMED MY HEART AND MADE ME THING "I WOULD LOVE THIS AS MY CHRISTMAS TREE"! MAYBE SOMEDAY LUCKY WILL HAVE A LOT OF FRIENDS ON MY CHRISTMAS TREE. UNTIL THEN I WILL JUST BE GLAD I SAW THIS TREE!

Old Time Santa



51 Year Old Santa


This Santa bank was given to me by my mother-in-law 51 years ago.
He has lived in 7 different houses,6 different cities and 2 states.

Getting the Christmas decorations out this year and there he was.

He has a few blemishes and some yellowing but so do I!
I am just amazed he has survived the moves and packing without
being broken in some way. I believe this is the only remaining
decortion that has survived these 51 years.

A Thank You Prayer

On Thursday 11/03 I had my mammogram at Proctor Hospital.

Thursday night I awoke scared and sweating. I had dreamed my doctor called me into her office

 and told me I had breast cancer. It was the most clear dream I have had in some time.
 Needless to say I was so shaken and scared!

All weekend my mind reverted back to that dream and I could not get it out of my mind.

 Monday I checked the answer machine to see if I had gotten a call while I was out for the morning.

Now is when my meditation class came into use. I meditated to relax but the nagging of that

dream returned.

I returned from work on Tuesday to sigh of relief there was no call today.

Feeling a little more confident....it was now 4 working days and no bad news.

When the mail came today there was my letter from the hospital! After years of this

 procedure I know the letter was to confirm my mammogram was normal! I sighed with so

 much relief I felt my heavy burden was gone!

Yes oh yes it was the time to say my thank you God prayer I always say when the

 letter comes.

The total reality of this is your health is the highet priority and I never take litely.

Tonite I will sleep more peaceful and repeat my thank you prayer to God.

Sharing Halloween Candy With Friends

Making a trip to store yesterday had its good and bad point. A cart full of Halloween candy was 75% off so now who can pass that bargain up!

Decided sharing would be the best idea before grabbing the storage bags and packing then up and putting them into the freezer. Now the problem is I know what is in the freezer and will those little bars will be calling my name at any give moment. I am afraid this is going to happen and I have no will power whatsoever. Was it really necessary? My cute little friends don't care what they look like...just look at their hair!

I Need Chimes

                                GRANDFATHER CLOCK PLEASE CHIME

This clock was purchased in November of 1985. My father had died earlier in that year and my Mom has
died previously. A small inheritance was not exactly a happy memory for me but this clock could provide a
family heirloom perhaps on of my daughters might appreciate in the future.

Also being a very light sleeper the chimes were a pleasant distraction while I waited for sleep. It became
part of my evening to listen, wait and appreciate the different melodies that were available. My morning
ritual was to wait and listen before starting my day.

I took this all for granted until the chimes stopped. Unbelievable the chiming would stop! I really missed
the chimes. After many attempts to coax the chimes to restart  I realized the chimes were not going to return unless the grandfather clock doctor could make a house call.

So the issue is do you call the pricy doctor or count sheep...but counting sheep is so quiet. Where or
where is that phone number?

Back to Class

I signed up for a  3 week meditation class at my local junior college recently. I got a  workbook, a notebook and a pen.

I felt like a real student again.  Granted it has been many years since I have been in a classroom setting and I liked it!

Now I will be 70 in Feb 2012 so yes it has been awhile. In my defense I have taken computer classes through my job but for some reason this is just different.

Amazing the little things that make me happy.
Looking at brochure...what should my next class be...mmmmmmmmmmmmm

This table and chairs were so inviting I just wanted to grab my kindle and a soda and sit a spell, so I did just that! 

Something To Smile About

I am a member of the YWCA since 2008 and have enjoyed going to group classes, using the machines, walking on the track and my favorite the olympic size pool. This year they had a zumba class in the pool that was the best.
This is in the ladies locker room and makes me smile every time I see it. I would like to have this in my bathroom at home.
